GC Hatteras Demo wins Fishing Event Classic

The end of last month saw the 4th Annual Fishing Event Classic in the beautiful area of Saint Martin from May 27th to May 31st. This exciting event has continued to grow over the years and this year it brought eight teams together to vie for cash prizes and a shot to compete in the acclaimed IGFA World Offshore Championship in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The competition was fierce on the water with professional crews and top-of-the-line vessels that were nose-to-nose throughout the event.
For our team here at Gulf Coast Hatteras, the event was especially exciting as our own demo boat—the 68-foot Hatteras Gulf Rascal —captained by Billy Borer with owner Rod Windley and anglers Doug Caddell and Philip Napier took the grand prize of the tournament. Despite slow fishing, poor water quality and lightning strikes, Rod managed to hook at 400-pound blue marlin while Philip brought in a 350-pound blue marlin himself. Congratulations to the ‘Gulf Rascal’ team and to all of the competitors who battled it out on Marlin Boulevard!
